Slitscan is based on the slit scan (or the scanner) effect. Each frame width is adjusted with a larger value to create a pixelated, glitched effect.
The works are displayed as documentation and accompaniment to the Asian Avant-Garde Film Festival's Amorphous Body: A Happening - an avant-garde experimentation and live performances in conjunction with the Asian Avant-Garde Film Festival in M+ Museum (Hong Kong) on 31 May 2024, starting with Baby Diwata, a Manila-born DJ known for genre-fluid selections, and Loveless, a Hong Kong-born artist who brings a non-conforming mix to the dance floor. Experimental visuals will be created in live-time by Elizabeth Kezia Widjaja.
About the artist
Elizabeth Kezia Widjaja is an Indonesian-born and raised artist and photographer. Her rebellious visuals draw from computer programming, which naturally galvanized a photographer’s control down to every single pixel. Through her works, she constantly plays with the deconstruction of media, sharing her findings online. She is a recipient of British Fashion Council's NEW WAVE 2022. Her works have been featured in Lane Crawford, MING'S, PhotoVogue, CAP 74024, Schön Magazine, YeP YeP, DEW Magazine, ÀPART Publications, and more.
